Digital tracing and CAD file service
Digital Tracing Services for Boat Panels, Templates and Custom Parts
Turn an old panel, paper template or flat pattern into a clean digital file. Using our Logic Trace digital tracing system, we can trace flat parts up to 600 mm x 900 mm and prepare DXF, PDF or production-ready files for quoting, cutting or replacement panel design.
What we can digitally trace
Ideal for customers who have an existing panel, cardboard template, paper pattern, marked-up drawing or sample part and need it converted into a clean digital layout for quoting, cutting or redesign.
Boat dash and switch panels
Trace old marine dash panels, switch panels, acrylic panels and replacement templates so a new panel can be designed or manufactured.
Flat panels and cutouts
Capture outside shapes, mounting holes, gauge openings, switch holes, screen cutouts, labels and other flat panel features.
CNC-ready file preparation
Convert traced shapes into tidy DXF/PDF files for review, quoting, laser cutting, CNC routing or further CAD work.
Custom parts and templates
Useful for machinery covers, signage blanks, electrical panels, caravan/RV parts, acrylic panels and other flat templates.
How the digital tracing process works
Send photos and rough dimensions first. If the job suits digital tracing, we will confirm the price and the best way to supply the part or template.
Send photos and details
Send clear photos, overall dimensions and what you need the file for.
Trace the part or template
We place the flat item on the tracing board and capture the outline, holes and cutouts.
Clean up the digital file
The traced geometry is checked, tidied and prepared for review, quoting or manufacturing.
Approve or manufacture
Use the file yourself, request changes, or ask us to quote the finished panel or part.

Digital tracing pricing guide
Pricing depends on size, condition, number of holes/cutouts and whether you need a simple trace or a CNC-ready file. The guide below gives customers a starting point before they request a quote.
Basic digital trace
Simple flat item, small template or basic outline with limited holes/cutouts. Suitable when the part is clean and easy to trace.
Standard panel trace
Most flat panels and templates up to 600 mm x 900 mm with moderate cutouts, mounting holes and basic cleanup.
Complex dash or template
Larger or more detailed jobs with many cutouts, gauge holes, switch layouts, labels, revisions or extra CAD cleanup.
CAD cleanup and redraw time
Used when extra design work, heavy cleanup, missing details, file repair or layout changes are required beyond the tracing work.

Digital tracing FAQ
What size can you trace?
The standard tracing area is up to 600 mm x 900 mm. Larger or unusual jobs may need to be assessed separately.
Can you trace from a photo only?
A photo can help with quoting, but accurate digital tracing usually needs the physical part, template or a clear drawing with confirmed dimensions.
Is this the same as 3D scanning?
No. This is for flat 2D tracing and template conversion, not 3D scanning or reverse engineering of complex 3D parts.
Can you also make the finished panel?
Yes, where suitable. Digital tracing can be used as the starting point for a replacement boat dash, switch panel, acrylic panel or custom manufactured part.
